Endurocide® Curtains: Key Information

We do more than just sell you a curtain: as with all our products, we provide unparalleled after-sales support.

This information aims to help you get the best performance out of your curtain.

Disposable Curtains should not be cleaned

WEB clean

All our Endurocide® Disposable Curtains are made out of 100% Polypropylene which is specifically designed to be disposable.

Our curtains are not designed to be cleaned, washed, or wiped.

Cleaning the curtains can affect their performance, cause pilling, or even affect the curtain’s fire retardancy or ability to kill pathogens (in the case of our Endurocide® Antimicrobial & Sporicidal Curtains).

When your curtain becomes visibly soiled it should always be replaced.

Polypropylene and UV

 WEB sun2

Endurocide® Disposable Curtains are manufactured from Polypropylene which we recommend to be UV resistant for approximately 6 months, but if exposed to prolonged, direct and strong sunlight the material may suffer accelerated ageing as a result. This can lead to a loss in tensile strength and elasticity and can cause pilling of the material.

We advise our customers to, wherever possible, ensure their curtains are hung away from prolonged, direct sunlight/UV.

Ventilating areas

 WEB fan2

As our Endurocide® Disposable Curtains are are manufactured and packed using Polypropylene material, occasionally there can be a smell associated with the curtain when first placed onto a ward.

Should you experience this, we would advise that you ensure the area is well ventilated, ensuring fresh air is able to circulate around the area. Any potential smell will quickly dissipate once the curtains have been removed from their packaging and the area lightly ventilated.

Do not leave curtains in-situ when fogging:

 WEB fogger2

It is recommended that Endurocide® Hospital Curtains are taken down when deep cleaning or disinfecting a ward/room with either a misting, fogging or UV machine.

The chemicals used in such operations (for example, hydrogen peroxide) may affect the curtain’s fire retardancy or ability to kill pathogens (in the case of our Endurocide® Antimicrobial Plus Curtains).

In addition, the chemicals or UV may also affect the labels affixed to the curtains.

Sparkling/shimmering appearance:

 WEB sparkle

Our Endurocide® Antimicrobial Plus Curtains are impregnated and coated with a patented formula which provides a long-lasting and powerful curtain capable of killing bacteria, fungi and spores.

Due to the fire retardants used in the curtain impregnation, the curtains can appear to have a shimmer or sparkling appearance. This is perfectly normal and can be seen on other similar fabrics coated with fire retardants.

How to store your curtains

WEB box2   All Endurocide® Hospital Curtains should be stored at ambient temperatures (i.e. 25°C max) and out of direct, strong sunlight/UV light. We would recommend that curtains should be hung within 12 months of
purchase.

Advised disposal methods

 WEB bin2

All Endurocide® Hospital Curtains are manufactured from 100% recyclable polypropylene. We would recommend that after use, the curtains are disposed of to either hazardous waste collection points, or via incineration.

The above is offered as guidance only and any hospital specific protocols or local regulations concerning the safe disposal of clinical waste should always be adhered to.
